Preventing injuries do not always take drastic change in practice, many preventive measures only take acknowledgement and awareness. Injuries that take a life is difficult but injuries that change living standards or abilities have more ripple effects that echo across generations. Taking the time and effort to listen, learn, and make a change, makes a difference. Understanding the foundation of injury can change the entire growth and development of injury prone activities and practices. Group effort is a multiplier to change management. As a Doctoral Candidate at CU Boulder, I study concussions across the Pac-12. My work describes risks associated with injury, symptomology and recovery trajectories after non-sport and sport-related concussions in Collegiate Athletes. I am interested in not only continuing concussion research, but also expanding my research to injury prevention as a whole. Especially in regards to mental health, such as prevention of suicide, youth violence, and gun violence. As a paramedic student, all of these subjects are important to me, I hope to use the info learned to help my community. As a Professional Mediator on occasion I am faced with mediating for divorcing couples in which IPV has occurred. As a Social Worker currently in the field of research, I am passionate about work involving evaluating/adapting current systems that advance the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children, adolescents, and adults As a student, I am interested in prevention and increased player safety regarding concussions and traumatic brain injuries in sports. As someone who has been involved in and is a fan of combat sports, I have seen and heard of a wide range of musculoskeletal and brain injuries. With this, I have been accumulating an interest in the treatment and prevention of concussions, TBIs, and CTE. I am eager to learn and would be thrilled and honored to earn an opportunity to work and learn within the Injury Prevention Center. As an undergraduate student, I wish to gain hands-on experience to further pursue my interests as well as learn valuable information. Growing up in a community that faced two youth suicide clusters within five years shaped my personal values and professional trajectory. One’s health and well-being became at the forefront of my mind during interactions with peers, faculty, parents, and community members, as I raised awareness about mental health promotion and suicide prevention throughout high school and now in college. The prevention model because my focus in 2014 and is the foundation of my current advocacy efforts: my goal is to constantly progress upstream to address the factor contributing to physical and mental health issues through a public health lens. Injuries in motor vehicle crashes, Surgical site infections in hernia repair, Musculoskeletal quality degradation due to fat infiltration Injuries, whether they result from accidents, violence, or other causes, represent a significant and often preventable burden on communities around the globe. My interest lies in understanding and addressing the root causes of injuries, developing effective prevention strategies, and promoting safety measures that can make a positive difference on a global scale. I have had an international public health experience, interning at the Community Medicine department of a South Indian hospital, which has driven my interest in global injury prevention. By collaborating with the Injury Prevention Center within a global health framework, I hope to contribute to the development of evidence-based interventions, policies, and education programs that can reduce the incidence of injuries, improve healthcare outcomes, and enhance the overall well-being of populations, both locally and globally. MPH student pursuing injury prevention; earning the injury science certificate. Interests in mental health and suicide prevention, violence prevention, & drug use/opioid overdose prevention. multi-center, human subjects research of all funding mechanisms My broad research interests are on ACE exposure and adolescent risk-taking behaviors, with a current focus on adolescent suicidality. My dissertation examines the association of state minimum wage laws and occupational injuries. I work as Graduate Research Assistant at JHSPH for METRC, Center for Gun Policy and Research, and Center for Injury Research and Policy. I am interested in your Center because of the outward facing injury prevention work you do. My Interest stems from a loss of youth to suicide and youth violence, I would like to a part of the solution as I have previously worked with at risk children and understand the need and impact as well as deficit of resources My interest stems from suffering from 15+ concussions in my lifetime thus far. My goal is to do my dissertation on the topic of concussions and prevention through peer led programs for college athletes. I am currently an adjunct faculty member at the UofL while I finish my Doctorate. My goal is to find a Post-Doc fellowship that focuses on athletes and TBI. I hope to gain more experience and network with other individuals in the field to better my knowledge and do further research and prevention trainings. My interests include youth violence and adversed childhood experiences My life's work is focused on caring for and obtaining justice for those suffering from injury as a result of MVAs, with a focus on traumatic brain injury and closed head injur My MPH focus is in epidemiology, and I am interested in the Center's internship opportunities My research & clinical interests surround intentional injury- specifically, suicide prevention among youth and young adults. My research aims to enhance intervention, policy, and outreach efforts to improve roadway safety (reducing motor vehicle crashes and transportation injuries), mobility, and well-being across the lifespan, specializing in older adults and those living with dementia. My research focuses on examining factors that increase the risk for various forms of aggression and interpersonal violence (e.g., dating violence, sexual violence). More specifically, I am interested in investigating implicit and explicit processes that contribute to the development and maintenance of interpersonal violence, substance use, and risky sexual behaviors. My research has centered around violence prevention, and I would like to learn more from this esteemed group of researchers. My research interests focus on population-level approaches to decreasing racial disparities in morbidity and mortality related to suicide, alcohol, and drugs. Specifically, my research objectives include contributing towards a comprehensive understanding of population-level suicide, alcohol-, and drug-attributable mortality as an emergent property of critical exposures that operate across the lifespan to independently and interactively influence risk within complex social systems. I am interested in investigating how socio-economic exposures may generate differential vulnerability across racial groups—with special emphasis on American Indians/Alaska Natives and Black Americans—in order to identify upstream interventions, especially policy. My research interests focus on reducing the burden of pedestrian injuries and deaths in Uganda. I am working under the Collaboration for Evidence-Based Healthcare and Public Health in Africa (CEBHA+), a consortium involving seven African universities, and funded by the German Ministry of Education. I currently coordinate a multi-country study titled, “Finding the evidence for improved implementation of road safety interventions to reduce pedestrian injuries and deaths.” in Uganda and Rwanda. I hope to enhance my career in injury research. My research interests lie at the intersection of psychology and public health, with an overarching goal of deepening our understanding of social and behavioral issues important to enhancing transportation safety, mobility, and equity throughout the lifespan. My research is in suicide prevention among adolescents, young adults, and populations at high risk for suicide (e.g., veterans, LGBTQ+) My research is in suicide prevention; I collaborate with faculty in psychiatry and psychology. My work crosses many paths with the injury prevention center such as school safety, substance use disorders, suicides, youths violence, and gun violence prevention.
