Become a University of Michigan Injury Prevention Center Core Faculty/Practitioner

Requirements

You can become an Injury Prevention Center Core Faculty if you have any of the following:

  • An active faculty appointment at any university or higher education institution
  • Peer-reviewed research in injury prevention science or policy
  • Record of research support and productivity in injury prevention science or policy
  • Previous funded support for injury prevention projects

Our Core Practitioners help our communities and promote the injury prevention message. Examples include trauma nurses, safety program coordinators, state initiative champions, or certified passenger safety technicians.

You can become an Injury Prevention Center Core Practitioner if you:

  • Are an active injury prevention practitioner, program/project manager or advocate

OR

  • Promote evidence-based injury prevention messaging and initiatives in your work

Benefits

As a Core Faculty/Practitioner, you will receive the following benefits:

You will have an online profile on the Injury Prevention Center website. This includes your picture, contact information, biography, websites, and focus areas.

The U-M Injury Prevention Center is available to provide letters of support for grants or projects, if appropriate.

Upon request, the Injury Prevention Center outreach core can help you disseminate your work to practice. This includes creating visual abstracts, infographics, educational materials, or social media posts.

The Injury Prevention Center can assist with any work you do with policy makers and injury related stakeholder groups.

The Injury Prevention Center will promote your work via twitter and Facebook, in our newsletter, our website, and also through print materials at events and conferences. We can also promote your research findings by collaborating with other communications departments across the University and Michigan Medicine.

You will receive monthly newsletters, which has information on U-M IPC news, events, funding opportunities, jobs openings, and core faculty research.

You will have access to other core faculty and the Injury Center leadership and Injury Center team to network and discover new potential collaborators.

You will have access to all events organized by the Injury Prevention Center or co-sponsored by the Injury Prevention Center. These events include trainings, educational events, and national conferences that focus on injury prevention science.

As a Core Faculty or Practitioner, you will have access to statistical and technical assistance from our Stats and Methods Core.

Core Faculty and Practitioners will have opportunities to apply for pilot program funding and access to grant writing support.
