Biography

Ms. Purcell leads the Diversion Prevention Program at Michigan Medicine. In this role, she coordinates efforts to ensure patient and staff safety by working to prevent, detect and respond to drug diversion by health system staff. Through multi-disciplinary collaboration, she aims to maintain regulatory compliance for all areas accountable for controlled substances. She has presented both locally and nationally on the topics of drug diversion and program development. Ms. Purcell is a member of the Washtenaw Health Initiative Opioid Project, a local collaborative focused on raising awareness and combating the opioid epidemic, and served as co-chair from January 2017 – August 2018. Ms. Purcell and her team also participate in the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy-hosted Safe Medication Disposal events.
