Biography
Dr. Cunningham is the Vice President for Research at the University of Michigan; the William G. Barsan Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine, U-M Medical School; and Professor in the Department of Health Behavior & Health Education at the U-M School of Public Health. As Senior Advisor and Director Emeritus for the U-M Injury Prevention Center, Dr. Cunningham supports leadership in helping to guide the short and long-term missions of the Center. Dr. Cunningham contributed to the U-M IPC Massive Open Online Course, “Injury Prevention for Children and Teens” in the Health Welcome section.
Research Interests
Dr. Cunningham has a distinguished career in researching intentional injury and substance use prevention including Opioids, particularly of youth and young adult populations. Her expertise is in research on substance use, violence, and other negative outcomes, and the development and application of behavioral interventions in the Emergency Department setting.
