ACEs and Other Emerging Injury Prevention Areas


The U-M Injury Prevention Center has an emerging portfolio in adverse childhood experiences, child maltreatment, burns, drowning, substance abuse, and pediatric injuries. From funded exploratory studies to educational events, we are working to find ways to prevent injury across populations in the Great Lakes Region and the United States. A Summary of Evidence-Based Child Maltreatment Prevention Programs--Triple P and the Nurse-Family Partnership

This document highlights the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP), a community health program for low-income, first-time moms and their babies, and the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), a multi-level system of interventions for parents with children from birth to 16 years.

Listen to a past lunchtime seminar presentation by Dr. Maria Muzik in the area of child maltreatment. Dr. Muzik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan, and Assistant Research Scientist in the Center for Human Growth & Development, University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the study of stress, trauma, and mental illness in the context of childbearing, and its influence on the developing parent-infant relationship and parenting.
