U-M IPC Leadership Participates in March 26th Congressional Briefing

Dr. Cunningham highlighted the work of the U-M IPC, joining other Injury Center leaders in Washington DC

U-M IPC Director Dr. Rebecca Cunningham, MD, joined the directors of other injury centers from around the country in Washington on March 26th, to brief Congress on our work, with special emphasis on our important efforts in the translation of our research around opioid overdose. In 2016, the U-M was one of 10 centers around the country that were awarded funding through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the CDC’s published information, Congress currently appropriates roughly $10 million to the CDC Injury Control Research Center (ICRC) program.

Our Center is actively involved in opioid overdose, one of the CDC’s top research priorities. The March 26th briefing helped demonstrate the impact of the ICRCs’ coordinated research, training, and outreach around opioid overdose and other high-priority areas of intentional and unintentional injury.
