You can also view our toolkit below for resources for you and your patients.

Explore the far-reaching impact of tobacco use on individual and population health. Participants will examine current prevalence rates, highlight the substantial health risks associated with tobacco use, and the significant health benefits of cessation. This session will also review practical, evidence-based clinical strategies for tobacco cessation, equipping clinicians with the knowledge to integrate effective interventions into routine practice and positively impact patient outcomes.

Strengthen your ability to engage and support patients through Motivational Interviewing (MI), a powerful, evidence-based approach to supporting tobacco cessation. Participants will gain an understanding of the core principles and processes that define effective MI, including how to incorporate the OAR (Open-ended questions, Affirmations, Reflections) framework into clinical interactions. The session will also introduce practical MI techniques designed for brief patient encounters, equipping clinicians to facilitate meaningful conversations and guide patients toward successful behavior change.

Deepen your understanding of pharmacological treatment as a cornerstone of effective tobacco treatment. This session explores the neurobiological basis of nicotine dependence and provides a comprehensive review of current clinical guidelines for pharmacotherapy. Participants will address common barriers to effective medication prescribing and use, enhancing their confidence to help patients successfully quit tobacco with evidence-based pharmacotherapy.
